Hot Water Heater Woes

About a week ago, my son ran out of  hot water about half way through his bath.  Upon further inspection, we noticed our hot water heater, after all this time of bumping and banging, had finally sprung a leak.  We called our home warranty people, which had already proven to be a thorn in our sides, and told them they needed to come out again.  This was not the first time they had been called.  The first time they said unless it sprung a leak, they could not replace it.

I was thinking, "SCORE!"  So the technician came out, tightened up the part that was linking, relit the pilot light and went on his way after collecting his $60 check.

Fast forward about three days and hubby asks what time I had taken my bath the night before because he ran out of hot water.  I usually take my bath and head up to bed hours before he gets home from work.  About two days after that, my son did not have any hot water during his shower.

The home warranty people were called again and two days pass before we hear back.  They called at 3:30, when my husband was at work, and said they were on their way.  After my husband explained that they couldn't come at that moment, they tell him that it won't be until Friday, today, that they could come out.

So today, they come out, and long story short, they can't fix it.  They won't replace it.  They have to wait until next week to get a part.  In the meantime, my son is bathing in the hot tub outside.  I've been boiling hot water to sit in 6 inches of a bath.  This is not acceptable.

This is not the first time we've had problems with this warranty company.  We paid a lot of money since we were buying an older home.  We had purchased a different company years prior with a different house and they were happy to replace anything we had trouble with.  It was well worth our money.  Needless to say, this time it has been a total waste of money.

They had come and replaced our dishwasher, but not until they tried to fix it several times, and then strung it out of the course of two and a half months.  Each time a tech guy comes out, we have to pay $60, but they can't seem to do it right the first time.

It's the middle of December.  It's not like it's July 4th.  We need our hot water!
