New Roof

When we bought our house, the yard was overgrown and the trees had been laying on the roof.  When we cut the trees back, we noticed some broken shingles.  We also had a water cooler on the top of the house that leaked and left two big spots on the ceiling by the boy's room.  One day before the house was ours, we came over to snoop in the back yard only to find water pouring off the roof from the cooler.  And in addition to the ugly, dated, disfunctional cooler, we had an antennae up there that probably could have radared space if we tried.  Needless to say, our roof needed some work.   It would have cost only a smidgeon less to repair it as it would be to replace to whole thing.  So that is what we did.

First they had to rip off the old roof, and underneath was all this black paper.  We got a late start Thursday morning because of rain.  But once they got started, there was no stopping them!  These guys work fast!

Friday morning, they started right away laying new paper down.  The new paper was double the thickness of the old paper.

Once the paper was down, the shingles were laid down.  They finished the shingles in about 12 hours, over a 2 day period.

Here you can see the cooler up there underneath the tree branches.  That is no longer there!

Once the roofers were done and gone, the raingutter guys came in and replaced all our old raingutters. The old ones were so bad, they weren't really serving any purpose anymore.  Here are pictures of the final product!

I love it!  I think it looks like a brand new house!  Once the blue and purple are gone, we won't be able to recognize her!
